Arima Onsen is located at Kita-ku, Kobe, behind Mount Rokko. It attracts travelers with natural beautity and tranquility. Yet Arima Onsen is well supported by public transport network and is easily accessible even from busy cities in Kansai metropolitan area, including Osaka.

Arima Onsen Hotels

Hotels at Arima Onsen range from US$150 to US$600. Hotels such as Kinzan and Ginsuiso Bekkan Choraku are luxury categories. The budget categories would be Kosenkaku and Arima Gyoen. Travelers can choose among the hotels according to their preference of location, food and hot spring type. Some hotels are as old as 600 years. Some hotels do not accept children younger than 12 years old while some hotels are “Silver Star” accredited, meeting standards for the elderly in terms of facilities, services and prices.


All Arima Onsen hotels offer hot baths, ranging from open-air to waterfall to stone floor bathing. Some hotels even boast of 10 different baths for travelers to enjoy trying all of them.


Travelers get magnificent views from their rooms over the beautiful mountain landscape of Arima Onsen. Arima Onsen is surrounded by seasonal flowers and filled with delicate scent of flowers. Some hotels even offer the art of “Kado”, Japanese flower arrangement. Travelers can also choose among wide ranging of traditional Japanese food such as Kyoto-style Kaiseki cuisine prepared with fresh seasonal ingredients.

Japan aims to draw 9.15 mil. foreign tourists in 2008

The transport ministry set a new goal Monday for seeing 9.15 million foreign tourists visit Japan this year, up 9.6 percent from the actual number of foreign tourists in 2007, ministry officials said. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism will begin advertising campaigns targeting various age groups and sexes in 12 countries and territories including South Korea and Taiwan.

Japan ranks 23rd in WEF travel-tourism competitiveness report

Japan placed 23rd out of 130 countries surveyed in terms of competitiveness in tourism, up two ranks from a year ago, according to the latest data released by the World Economic Forum on Tuesday. Japan got high ratings in transport infrastructure, human capital and cultural resources, but those on price competitiveness and government policy were relatively low in the WEF’s Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Report 2008.
